Salary Survey Results

Each year, STC Austin conducts a survey to understand compensation and benefits in Austin. The survey is open to all technical communicators in the Austin area, whether current STC members or not. Janet Swisher will present the survey results—with additional analysis—at the May STC Austin chapter meeting.

About the Survey

The Austin Chapter survey is conducted using these methods and guidelines:

• The survey is anonymous. We ensure that there can be no data tracking by individual or by employer.
• The survey uses direct measurement analysis. By comparison, the STC National Survey uses statistical sampling (Please note that the national survey is now in a members-only section of the website and requires a password to download.) Because they are sampling only a few samples from our area, we feel that the chapter survey provides more accurate results. Our survey typically draws from 75 to 150 responses.
• Survey results are posted publicly. They are copyright © Austin Chapter of STC and may not be used in any way for commercial purposes. If you would like to publish all or part of the results, please contact the Austin Chapter for permission.
• Survey data is the property of the STC and may not be sold or given to any private interest.

Directions to Tech Ranch Austin

1.    Take Burnet to the traffic light at Rutland (at the Jack-in-the-Box, north from 183, south from Braker).
2.    Turn east on Rutland and go to the light at Metric.
3.    Turn right (south) on Metric.
4.    Turn right (west) at the next light onto Rundberg.
5.    Go to the end of the street (about 300 yards, just on the other side of the railroad tracks).
6.    Turn left into the parking lot.
7.    Turn right as you enter the parking lot and park.
8.    Enter the door about 20 feet to the right of the parking lot entrance. It says “Tech Ranch” on it. Suite 200.
